The kimono is a clothing form relatively unchanged for centuries.
My Kimonos are lovingly sculpted from PAPER, and are just beauty for beauty's sake.
I love the kimono form and use it as a playground, mixing and layering various techniques.
Each piece begins as plain white paper, which I batik with beeswax, stain, paint or burn
to create layers of rich texture and colour.
These magnificent papers are then torn, sculpted and formed into stunning Kimonos,
which then get airbrushed, over painted and embellished with beading.
I keep all sorts of beautiful objects long past their function,
repurposing them in a way that gives new meaning.
