This kimono brings together many papers I batiked, using wood block stamps dipped into melted bees wax.  When that cools, the papers are painted or stained before ironing the wax out, revealing areas of resist.  Then the papers are painted again before being used in the kimono.  It is a rather labour intensive process.  The pieces often use fibre glass to reinforce the forms.  

Most of my works are mounted on a light linen ground.  This one just sparkled against the deep navy linen and since it truly is one-of-a-kind, I decided to go for it, airbrushing some gold on the ground as well.
